The new system has a redundant 100 Gbit/s link with DE-CIX's internet exchange and Core-Backbone GmbH. The broadband speed checker was first moved from Core-Backbone GmbH's network into a separate, autonomous system.
DE-CIX is providing two 100G access ports and corresponding interconnection services free of charge to enable easily accessible broadband speed tests in Germany. In the past few days, the broadband speed checker has been linked up directly with DE-CIX's Apollon platform in Frankfurt and with DE-CIX's locations in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Munich via GlobePEER Remote. Consumers will benefit from even more reliable internet speed tests," said Jochen Homann, Bundesnetzagentur President. The speed checker is now even easier for internet service providers to access.
I am pleased that our joint efforts have been successful. "Linking up the broadband speed checker directly with DE-CIX's internet exchange has been an important step. Together withĭE-CIX and Core-Backbone GmbH, zafaco GmbH and the Bundesnetzagentur have put the link into operation and created even better speed test options. The servers for the Bundesnetzagentur's broadband speed checker – "Breitbandmessung" – are now linked directly with the world's leading internet exchange in Frankfurt operated by DE-CIX.
